Is Thailand a Hague Convention country?

Not yet. Thailand acceded to the Apostille Convention on 30 June 2026, but it does not enter into force until 28 February 2027. Until then, documents still need U.S. Department of State authentication followed by legalization at the Thailand embassy. If you’ll be filing after that date, tell us — the route changes to a single apostille.

Why this document takes the state route

A Federal Power of Attorney is certified by a notary, so the signature being authenticated is the notary’s — not a federal official’s. That means it is authenticated by the Secretary of State of the state where it was notarized. For Thailand, the state-authenticated document then goes to the U.S. Department of State and on to the Thailand embassy for legalization.

We handle Florida notarizations through the full chain. Documents notarized in other states need that state’s authentication first; we then handle the federal and embassy steps.

People most often send documents to Thailand for marriage, retirement visas, work permits. Receiving offices set their own requirements, so confirm what yours asks for — we’ll help you read it.

About the Federal Power of Attorney

How to apostille a power of attorney for use abroad — properly notarized and certified for federal authentication.

You obtain this from notarized, federally certified. We can’t request it on your behalf, but once you have it, we handle everything through to delivery in Thailand.

This routes through your state. A notarized power of attorney isn't a federal document — it authenticates through the Secretary of State where the notary is commissioned. We handle that route too, but it isn't the federal one.
